The Darwin Fringe reaches out more to the Northern Suburbs in 2008, with Malak as the focus point. Fringe@Malak will showcase outcomes of community arts projects facilitated by Brown's Mart Community Arts and its partners working in the area. Melaleuca Refugee Centre, who work with various communities in Malak, are the main organising team for Fringe@Malak this year.

The Malak Street Party will incorporate contributions and cultural expressions from the many communities of Malak, the Northern Suburbs, and Darwin. Activities include:

Visual Arts Exhibitions
20-22 June, Various locations in Malak
A Day in the Life of Malak. This exhibition in Chambers Crescent Theatre will feature photographs produced by local residents, documenting a day of their lives in Malak. The project facilitator is Nic Borgese, a photographer and community development worker.
