Our Malak is the virtual home for various community cultural development projects being undertaken by Brown's Mart Community Arts and Melaleuca Refugee Centre, with their partners and communities in Malak, Darwin, Australia. The Connect series of workshops on the Internet and community cultural development (also known as Our Malak) is one such project; outcomes of the workshops will be posted on the web site.
Another project is Malak Community Garden, which will involve community gardening around Malak Shopping Centre and elsewhere in the neighbourhood. Malak will also be a main location for the Darwin Fringe Festival, 18-29 June 2008 (the program will be published here soon). Ultimately, this site should serve all things Malak; we hope more and more Malak people will be part of Our Malak.
This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body.
Our continuing operations at Malak are made possible through core
funding from Arts NT, the Northern Territory Government's arts funding
and advisory body.
